CPL
Get your Michigan concealed pistol license! This class meets state requirements of 8 hours instruction (5 classroom & 3 on the range). We'll discuss building a personal protection plan, home defense, legal use of force, avoiding violent encounters, methods of carry and more.
Pistol Fundamentals
Grip. Sights. Trigger. Tension and more. Designed for newer shooters, this class covers the important fundamentals of pistol shooting. We'll run several exercises and dryfire demonstrations to start building good habits and you'll leave with the tools necessary to become a better shooter.
Intro to Competition
Thinking about competing but hesitant to take that first step? This class has you covered! We'll go over all the USPSA essentials from basic range safety and commands to scoring targets. You'll even run a short practice stage so you can hit your first match with confidence!
About
Fowler Defense was founded in 2025 by Army veteran Ryan Fowler. The west Michigan native served 4 years with the 10th Mountain Division including a deployment in 2016 to Afghanistan. He began competing in USPSA in November of 2024, shooting his first full season in '25. He quickly rose to the rank of Master in Carry Optics division but not before taking a few noteable wins in A class including the Indiana State Sectional and Area 5 Championship. The 2025 season also included his first national level matches where he finished top 20% in his division at Factory Gun Nationals and top 23% (77.5% of the great Eric Grauffel) at IPSC Nationals.
Although he works full time as an electrician Ryan is very passionate about shooting, dedicating nearly all of his free time to training and traveling the nation shooting matches. In January of '25 he became an MCRGO certified CPL instructor in order to kickstart his love of teaching others. Ryan is also an NRA Range Safety Officer and NROI certified Range Officer.
